Later 19th century, possibly incorporating earlier fabric, with later additions and alterations. Single storey and attic, 3-bay, rectangular-plan house with single storey, single bay addition to right; further single storey ancillary structure set at angle to front forming L-plan. Coursed and tooled cream sandstone to front and side (N); whitewashed harl to rear; sandstone ashlar dressings. Eaves course; narrow quoin strips. Painted margins; projecting cills throughout.
SW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: main block with timber panelled door centred at ground; 2-pane fanlight; corniced canopy with large brackets. Single windows in bays flanking entrance; single window in single storey block to right. Single storey ancillary range projecting to outer right.
NW (SIDE) ELEVATION: 2-bay gable end. Single windows in both bays at ground; smaller attic windows aligned above.
NE (REAR) ELEVATION: blind.
8- and 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows; small rooflight. Grey slate roof; stone-coped skews. Corniced, brick-built apex stacks; various circular cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1999.
GARDEN WALLS AND PIERS: arched coping to heavily-pointed rubble walls partially enclosing site. Low coped rendered walls to front with square-plan, ball-finialled piers flanking pedestrian entrance.
The 1858 OS map shows an earlier structure, of differing plan, on this site. An unusual design with the appearance of being a tall single storey building from the front.
