Late 18th century with later additions and alterations. Symmetrical 2-storey with basement and wallhead attic, 3-bay house forming end of terrace. Harl-pointed whinstone rubble to front; painted harl to rear; harled sides; cream sandstone dressings. Eaves course; droved quoins; droved long and short surrounds to openings; projecting cills.
NE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: steps to deep-set timber panelled door centred at ground; 3-pane fanlight; corniced door surround. Squat basement openings in bays flanking entrance; single windows aligned at ground; single windows in all bays at 1st floor; squat attic openings above.
SE (SIDE) ELEVATION: blind.
SW (REAR) ELEVATION: stair (?) window at centre; irregularly fenestrated in remaining bays; gabled dormers breaking eaves to outer left and right.
Predominantly 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows; 2- and 3-pane squat windows to front. Grey slate roof; stone-coped skews. Rendered apex stack to SE; brick-built apex stack to NW; various circular cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
One of the most prominent houses fronting Ayton's High Street - its height and wallhead attic being of particular note.
