INTERIOR: stained glass stair window inscribed 'In loving memory of Elezer Colville who built this house 1822, died 1853.' Remainder not seen 1998.
BOUNDARY WALL AND GATEPIERS: heavily-pointed, coped rubble wall enclosing site to front. Octagonal-plan, coursed pink sandstone gatepiers flanking vehicular entrance; tapering caps; gates missing.
A well-detailed, prominent house fronting Ayton's High Street. Built by Elezer Colville (an Edinburgh surgeon), it was later associated with the adjacent Colville Lodge - itself dated 1851 and built for Colville's son, a Justice of Peace Clerk (see separate list entry). Although the majority of its original glazing has been removed, Colville House retains its original composition and other good details.
