Circa 1900. 2-storey, 2-bay, gable ended, rectangular-plan workshop and warehouse. Cement render with ornate classical treatment of front gable end.
E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 2 doorways at ground, framing pilasters, cornice above ground floor with "PLASTERERS" in relief moulding upon frieze. 2 architraved windows at 1st floor with consoled and pedimendted heads and bracketed cills, Corinthian pilaster ends. Cornice and frieze above with "BURNESS & SON" in painted relief moulding. Deep and bold pedimented gablehead with mutule, dentil and egg and dart cornices, and a disc moulding in the tympanum.
S ELEVATION: door to left at ground and later window to right, steel stairs leading to central doorway at 1st floor, windows flanking.
N ELEVATION: adjoining neighbouring property.
4-pane timber sash and case windows at 1st floor. Grey slate roof, coped skews to W. Rendered gablehead stacks.
An extraordinary example of cement moulding techniques and commercial pride. The firm Burness & Son may also have been responsible for the similarly handled facade of the adjacent 10, 12, 14 Murray Street.
