Statement of Interest

Mill of Fintray is a rare survival with its wheel and evidence of machinery still in place. Described as "Corn Mill" on the 1st Edition OS Map (1864) the Mill of Fintray was still making oatmeal in the 1970's. It is likely that the kiln was originally housed within the mill building, but a new detached kiln (demolished 1998) was constructed in the mid 20th century incorporating an existing late 19th century building, probably to the designs of Walker and Duncan of Aberdeen.
