Description

Later 19th century. Single storey, 12 bay terrace of 3 rectangular plan cottages. Tooled sandstone rubble with stugged dressings droved to margins.

SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: asymmetrical; glazed panelled timber door near centre; panelled timber doors to penultimate bays to left and right; irregular fenestration to remaining bays.

NE ELEVATION: blank; harled lean to addition to outer right.

NW ELEVATION: not seen 1998.

SW ELEVATION: window off centre to left; harled lean to addition to outer left.

Earlier 20th century 12 pane and 6 pane timber lying pane sash and case windows. Purple grey slate roof with regularly placed ventilators and lead ridge. Coped polished gablehead and ridge stacks with circular cans. Cast iron rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

Statement of Interest

Do not appear on the 1st Edition OS Map (1852). The Temple Farm Cottages terrace is a good example of largely unaltered mid 19th century farm workers' housing.
