Description

1888. Low, 5-bay, aisless church with small porch and good interior. Bull-faced, squared and snecked rubble with contrasting ashlar dressings; dry-dash. Base course. Pointed-arch door with hoodmould and label-stops, and shouldered window openings; battered cope to buttresses. Chamfered reveals.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: small porch with 2-leaf boarded timber door to outer right, 3 bipartite windows to left and further single window to outer left, buttresses between windows. Small triangular air vent close to roof ridge at outer left.

S ELEVATION: 3-bay, canted elevation with rooflight over centre bay.

N ELEVATION: plain gabled bay with sign to left and modern cross at gablehead.

W ELEVATION: 2 windows with metal shutters to left, later hall (not included in this listing) adjoined to right and small air vent as above to outer right.

Multi-pane glazing with coloured margins. Grey slates in decorative vertical bands; terracotta ridge tiles and finials.

INTERIOR: pointed-arch openings, fixed timber pews with umbrella racks, hammerbeam roof on moulded corbels and decorative cast-iron roof ventilator. Canted chancel area with panelled dado and pointed-arch sounding board, rooflight above.

Statement of Interest

Ecclesiastical building in use as such. Door to SW blocked, and further door opened when hall erected.
