Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey, mirrored 2-bay pair of L-plan houses. Harled; painted dressings. Base course; roll-moulded architraves to upper storey windows; architraves to windows at ground; channelled quoins.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: each house with pilastered doorpiece; replacement timber door; letterbox fanlight. Single windows aligned above at 1st floor; single windows to both floors of flanking outer bays.

Replacement modern glazing; Velux rooflights. Replacement concrete-tiled roof to No 10, original slate roof to No 8; coped gablehead stacks; polygonal cans. Original cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIORS: not seen 1997.

BOUNDARY WALLS, RAILINGS AND GATE: low coped boundary wall; original iron railings and mutual gate.

Statement of Interest

A pair of later Victorian houses, notable for retaining their boundary walls and railings. They provide a good example of later Victorian building in relation to their late 19th century neighbours to the left.
