Late 18th/early 19th century. Single storey, 3-bay symmetrical rectangular-plan cottage. Cream sandstone rubble with stugged ashlar long and short surrounds to openings. Eaves course.
NW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: replacement timber door in bay to centre. Window in each bay flanking.
SE (REAR) ELEVATION: piended square-plan addition in bay to centre with window set to right; replacement timber door in right return. Window in bay to right.
SIDE ELEVATIONS: blank gabled walls with 4 cast-iron tie terminals and gablehead stacks.
5-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof (probably formerly thatched); slate to addition; ashlar skews; ashlar coped stacks to gable ends; brick wallhead stack to piended addition; cast-iron rainwater goods with some uPVC replacements.
A good example of an early cottage and remaining relatively complete in form. The steep pitch of the roof suggest original thatch; the window lintels are unusually higher than that of the door and would suggest that they have been enlarged from smaller, lower openings.
