Description

Earlier 19th century with later alterations and additions. 2-storey, 3 bay, plain rectangular-plan classical former manse; single storey pitch-roofed wing to rear (E) elevation. Droved red sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. Base course; eaves course. Painted architraves to windows; strip quoins.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: raised doorpiece with flanking Doric columns supporting blank frieze, cornice and blocking course at ground in bay to centre; timber panelled door with rectangular fanlight and stained glass; window at 1st floor above. Window at each floor in flanking bays.

E (REAR) ELEVATION: 3-bay. 2-bay addition with window to left and door (blocked) to right, projecting E from bay to centre; stair window above. Window at each floor in bay to right. Replacement door, set wide, at ground in bay to left; window at 1st floor above.

S (SIDE) ELEVATION: 2-bay with single bay addition set back to right. Window at ground in each bay of main house; wallhead stack, centrally disposed above. Window, set to left, with small window flanking to addition; wallhead stack, centrally disposed above.

N (SIDE) ELEVATION: single bay with 3-bay addition set back to left. Window, set wide, at 1st floor in bay to outer right. Lean-to addition with boarded doors set wide to left at ground. Small window in bay to centre of addition. Replacement door to outer right. Replacement French windows to outer left.

Predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows; 2-pane timber sash and case windows to addition; stained glass fixed stair window. Grey slate piended roof; grey slate to addition; modern covering to lean-to; replacement, harled wallhead stack to S of main house; ashlar coped wallhead stack to S of addition; ashlar coped skews to addition; cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1997.
