Circa 1760, extended early 19th century. Single storey, 5-bay, L-plan cottage and former blacksmith?s workshop with forge. Roughly coursed sandstone rubble with large ashlar dressings.
SW ELEVATION: bays to left of centre with boarded timber door and flanking windows; further window to right of centre and modern garage door in broad former workshop entrance to outer right. 4 traditional small rooflights and vertical-astragalled rooflight close to ridge at right of centre.
SE ELEVATION: variety of elements including boarded timber door to outer right and window to outer left, 4 traditional small rooflights and vertical-astragalled rooflight close to ridge at right of centre.
NE ELEVATION: gabled elevation with small rubble built lean-to outbuilding and corrugated-iron roof, low opening on return to left in re-entrant angle.
NW ELEVATION: gabled elevation with lean-to corrugated-iron outbuilding and gablehead stack; return to left with rubble lean-to with corrugated-iron roof abutting eaves line and tall stack beyond.
8- and 12-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows; 9-pane and vertically-aligned 6-pane glazing patterns in fixed timber windows. Grey slates. Coped brick stacks, that to gablehead with thackstanes.
