Early 19th century, enlarged and altered 1879. 2 storey and basement, 3-bay, T-plan house with castellated and baronial additions. Part harled, part sandstone ashlar. Ashlar dressings. Eaves band and cornice.
E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: dominant advanced centre bay in ashlar (1879). 5-flight steps with low walls and lion sedent statues leading to entrance on raised principle floor. 2-leaf doors in 3-part doorway with shoulder-arched leads to each part, narrow windows flanking door all set in shallow arch with cable hoodmoulding above. Bipartite window at 1st floor, chamfered margins and cornice with strapwork design above. Small window with cable hoodmould at top of gable, crowstepped gable with ball finial. Corners rounded at ground floor, chamfered at 1st floor, windows in return at ground floor. Flanking bays harled with windows at ground and 1st floors, plain margins.
W (REAR) ELEVATION: asymmetrical. Large advanced, ashlar, canted bay from basement to roof. 2 windows to centre at basement, tripartite windows with single windows flanking at ground and 1st floors, chamfered margins, cable moulding above ground floor windows framing date stone (1879). Moulded corbels supporting battlements, stone cross at centre of parapet. Bay to right; harled, 2 windows at basement, blank above. Bay to left; harled, blank, stair tower in re-entrant angle. Plain margins.
N ELEVATION: asymmetrical. Semicircular engaged, harled, stair tower to centre, door at basement, window at 1st floor, two small windows off-set at 1st floor. Tower rises above roofs with ashlar octagonal battlements decorated with panels, mouldings, corbels, waterspouts and cable moulding. Small windows at base of each face. Bay to left; gable end, harled; 2 windows to basement, window at ground floor and 1st floor off-set to right. Bay to right; blank. Plain margins.
S ELEVATION: bay to right; gable end, harled, windows at 1st and 2nd floors. Bay to left; blank. Plain margins.
INTERIOR: converted into 2 dwellings. Ground floor room to rear; mutule cornice with egg and dart and cable mouldings, large floreable ceiling rose.
BOUNDARY WALLS AND RAILINGS: rubble stone and coping to N and S, concrete block to N at rear, tooled ashlar to front with cast-iron railings and gates with decorative scroll at ends.
