Late 18th to early 19th century. Octagonal water house. Squared coursed sandstone, base course, eaves course, droved margins, blocked window to S, boarded entrance to N, pyramidal bitumen felt roof.
Thought to have been a water-source or pumping house for Lochend Castle (now Lochend House). An illustration in "OLD AND NEW EDINBURGH" dated 1890 shows the Water House at the waters' edge, however it now stands some yards distant from the Loch (suggesting either a lower water level or that it has been moved).
