Later 19th century. Single storey croft in L-plan arrangement including cottage, barn, and kiln attached on axis. Drystone rubble walls with stone slab roof.
W ELEVATION: gable of N range advanced at left; 3-bay elevation recessed at right with vertically-boarded timber door in bay at centre, and small windows in flanking bays.
S ELEVATION: asymmetrical, with 3 irregularly spaced vertically-boarded timber doors; window in later bay to outer left; gable of E range advanced at right centred by semicircular kiln.
N ELEVATION: 6-bay (grouped 3-3) symmetrical elevation with later blank bay added to right (W). Rubble-infilled doors with flanking windows, rubble infilled except for 4-pane timber sash and case windows in bay to outer right.
OUTBUILDING AND BOUNDARY WALLS: L-plan drystone wall enclosing yard; partially ruinous gabled outbuilding at SW corner.
This rare survivor of a once common building type, with its particularly fine kiln, is a good example of local building techniques and materials.
