Later 19th century. Single storey, basically rectangular plan, school. Painted rubble sandstone with ashlar dressings, slate roof with moulded bargeboards at overhanging gables. Stop-chamfered doorcases, single, bi- and tri-partite 2-pane timber sash and case windows with chamfered margins; single coped stack.
FRONT ELEVATION: main block to centre with 2 slightly advanced gabled bays, each with bipartite window and diamond pattern moulded ornament at gable, singlewindow to left return, tripartite to right return; slightly lower block set-back to left with door and window; small entrance porch set-back to right with door, window to right return.
REAR ELEVATION: plain.2 rooflights, window to far right.
INTERIOR: not seen, although likely to retain original fittings such as boarded panelling, doors etc.
This former school is of particular interest because of its relationship with the adjacent former School House (85 Covington Road, itself the original school according to the 1862 OS map) and the row of cottages opposite.
