Description

Mid-19th century stone bridge with three segmental-arch spans (two dry, flanking overflow arches) carrying the former road over Fruin Water. Reconstructed and widened with a reinforced concrete frame in 1931. Bull-faced, squared sandstone with ashlar parapet; ashlar voussoirs, arch ring, keystone; droved triangular cutwater buttresses. Plaque inscribed "Sir Chas Preston Bart., Governor General, Military Road".

Statement of Interest

The bridge is shown on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map (surveyed 1859 to 1860, published 1862).
