Description

Dated 1863. 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan farmhouse with gabled steading forming U-plan court. Rubble building with harl and cement pointing. Formerly with Tudor hoodmoulds. Gabled with trefoil-headed bargeboards.

W (MAIN) ELEVATION: low broad gabled porch advanced at centre, plaque in gable above inscribed "Built by Sir James Colquhoun Bart Lord Lieutenant of Dumbartonshire AD 1860"; now with modern rustic lean-to porch. Flanking symmetrical bays, bipartite windows at ground, window in gablehead.

OUTBUILDINGS: U-plan steadings at rear; various openings. uPVC sash and case look-alike windows. Grey slate roof.

Statement of Interest

The farmhouse was built as part of the improvements carried out by Sir James Colquhoun. It is typical of the court farms of Luss Estate. The interior and timbers of the house were destroyed by fire in 1994.
