Mid 19th century with later additions and alterations. 2-storey with attic, 3-bay tenement with shop at ground and fragment of former neighbour adjoining. Stugged ashlar with droved ashlar dressings; line-rendered chamfered corner to outer left of N elevation; harled E and S elevations. Fascia and cornice between ground and 1st floor; eaves course.
N (MARKET PLACE) ELEVATION: fixed-pane plate glass shop window at ground to centre. Panelled and glazed shop door in bay to right with plate glass rectangular fanlight above. Panelled door with plate glass letterbox fanlight in bay to left. Regular windows at 1st floor.
S ELEVATION: lean-to single storey addition. Window at 1st floor to left of centre.
4-pane timber sash and case windows, except modern glazing to window to S. Slate roof with brick coped mutual stack to W. Half-piended canted 3-light window to attic to centre of N elevation; modern platformed dormer window in bay to left. Half-piended dormer to left of centre to S elevation; 2-pane skylight to right.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1996.
A building is shown on this site in 1823. In a photograph taken in the later 1880s by AR Edwards (NMRS), the building is shown to have no dormers. Until recent years, there were buildings linking this with
No 42 Market Place, a fragment of which remains. However, these were demolished to give access to the car park to S.
