Early 19th century single storey terrace with cottage to S and workshop to N. Random rubble with ashlar dressings. Timber sash and case windows and modern look alike. Graded grey slates, cast-iron rooflights to workshop, rendered end stack to S, brick mutual stack. 3-bay cottage with timber boarded door to centre, windows flanking. Blank end gable to Mount Vernon Road. Workshop to N has enlarged opening to left, 2 (later) bipartites to right.
INTERIOR of workshop: late 19th century, possibly as a schoolroom, tongue and groove panelling throughout, rooflights to rear.
Probably associated with the village school, situated in what is now the Liberton Inn until 1889 when it moved to a new building behind these cottages (now a Nursery School). Prominently sited at road junction.
