Description

A Maitland and Sons, 1872. French Gothic Tooled ashlar with
polished ashlar dressings.
3 storeys over basement, 5 wide bays with tower to north
gable (Tower Street). Projecting outer gabled bays with
tripartite on 1st floor and round arched bipartite under
pointed hoodmould in 2nd floor, bracketted balconies to 1st
and 2nd floors. 3 recessed centre bays with centre entrance
under colonnaded veranda of 3 segmental headed arches and
balcony above. 1st and 2nd floor centre window united vertically
under hoodmould; gabled 2nd floor windows; 2 gabletted and
bargeboarded dormers; stone and cast-iron decorative balustrade
to centre balcony. End and ridge corniced stacks; steeply
pitched slate roof with tiled ridge cresting. 4 storey tower
with steep pyramidal roof, gabletted openings and ornate
cast-iron finial.
