Later 19th century, altered. Tall 2-storey and attic, 4-bay (above ground) house with ground floor converted from shops, and lower 2-storey, single bay closing irregular at E, formerly terraced at W. Squared, coursed rubble with stugged ashlar dressings and projecting cills; snecked rubble to sides. 1st floor lintel band.
S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: centre bay at ground with timber door and plate glass fanlight flanked by blocked shop doorways and outer bipartite windows with recessed mullions (altered from shop windows); regular fenestration to 1st floor with weathered lettering 'DT' between bays 1 and 2, and 'MP' between bays 3 and 4; 2 slate-hung, polygonal-roofed, canted dormer windows above. Lower bay at outer right with single window to each floor, that to 1st floor breaking eaves into swept dormerhead.
4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Broad coped gablehead stacks with full-complement of polygonal cans. Ashlar-coped skews with block skewputts.
Situated in the High Street of Stonehaven's Old Town, No 82 retains much of its traditional form through careful alteration and retention of timber sash and case windows, important features for the Conservation Area location of this property.
