Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey and basement, 4-bay, forming 2 semi-detached houses. Whin ashlar with painted margins, twin arched fanlight doorpiece. Slated roof. Timber, glass and iron porch to No 9 with glass and iron raised fanlight canopy with fish-scale design.

Statement of Interest

The canopy to Number 9 was manufactured by Walter Macfarlane & Co, Glasgow at their Saracen Foundry and features in their 6th Edition catalogue of circa 1882. This Glasgow based company (1850-1967) was a prominent and prolific iron manufacturer, whose work was shipped throughout the British Empire.
