16th and 17th centuries with later alterations and repairs.
Rubble-built wall approximately 6' in height commencing at
Castle and thereafter following S perimeter of King's Park.
Mainly intact except where motorway has cut across it.
Section from lodge to Laurelhill, reduced to 3'6" in height,
ending at NE corner of Laurelhill property. Within the wall
is the King's Knot, probably laid out circa 1627-8 as Royal
gardens. Octagonal, stepped mound, rising to approximately 9'
in height, measures 22' across top, stands within a
double-ditched enclosure measuring 420' x 425' over all.
