Circa 1810 with later alterations and additions. 2-storey, 3-bay symmetrical, classical house, set back from road. Whinstone rubble with painted stugged ashlar dressings, raised polished ashlar margins; harled single storey wing to SW. Eaves course; long and short quoins; blocking course and raised red sandstone ashlar tablet to centre of SW elevation.
SE (HIGH STREET) ELEVATION: bay to centre advanced slightly with quoins; blocking course and panelled tablet. Deep-set panelled door to centre with rectangular radial fanlight above; corniced doorpiece with decorative carved (or possibly stucco) panel to frieze with palm motif; window at 1st floor. Window to each storey of flanking bays (smaller at 1st floor). Wing to left set back.
NW (CHAPEL STREET) ELEVATION: window to each storey of each bay. Window to wing and further smaller window to outer right. Modern single storey addition to outer left with corrugated platformed roof.
12-pane timber sash and case windows. Slate shallow piended and platformed roof with 2 rendered and coped central stacks and wallhead to SW elevation. Slate piended roof to addition.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1995.
The plan of the building in 1823 and on later maps is the same as it is now.
