Description

Late 19th century. 2-storey rectangular life boat house built against slope, boat accommodation in upper floor. Harled with tooled ashlar long and short dressings to principlal elevation. Brick dressings to sides.

Segmental-headed entrance to boat house in SE gable with single brick margined window with ashlar lintel in each long elevation; store below with 3 doorways in long NE elevation, each with ashlar lintel and brick jambs. Red brick with yellow brick quoins end stack; slate roof.

Statement of Interest

Lifeboat house exploits sloping site close to Aird Bay. Built after 1870. Listed category B as survival of a disappearing redundant type.
