Description

Early-mid 18th century. Pair 2-storey cottages, each with near centre door and flanking windows. Harled rubble, contrasting painted ashlar margins. Timber sash and case windows.

No 5: double-leaf panelled door; 12-pane glazing.

No 7: panelled door; additional window slapped extreme right. 2- and 12-pane glazing. Crudely coped end stacks; tall centre front wallhead chimney stack; flat skews; slate roof.

GARDEN WALLS: high rubble walls enclose rear garden.

Statement of Interest

Nos 5 and 7 North High Street probably of different builds, with No 5 the earlier. Note change in wall thickness revealed below harling.

Front wallhead chimney stacks are also a traditional building feature in Banff.
