Earlier 19th century with early 20th century additions and alterations. 2-storey 4-bay gabled villa on prominent S facing site overlooking town. Wet-dashed with cream sandstone ashlar dressings; overhanging eaves with exposed rafters and bargeboards; chamfered arrises. Regular fenestration; Ist floor windows breaking eaves with gabled dormerheads and finials.
N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: advanced and gabled left bay with expressed flue and apex stack. Centre left bay with ashlar porch in re-entrant angle; door flanked by narrow windows; cornice and balustraded parapet; window to immediate right at ground. 1st floor window at centre right bay hard under eaves. To outer right later single storey garage.
S ELEVATION: broad gabled bay to right with canted window at ground; 1st floor window in gablehead. Left bay set back and slightly lower; garage set back to far left. Basement.
Multi-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slates; coped dressed stacks with octagonal and terracotta barley-twist cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1994.
GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALL: square corniced ashlar gatepiers. Round coped whinstone rubble boundary wall of varying height enclosing property.
