Description

Late 18th century, much altered. 7-bay rectangular-plan range of former stables. Harled. Slightly advanced broad gabled bay at centre with boarded barn doors under depressed arch; pair of blind oculi and arched flight-hole in gablehead; pedestals at apex and eaves. To left, 3 modern garage doors separated by narrow windows; blind oculus above centre bay. To right, 1 large and 1 smaller pair of boarded cart doors with oculus above at centre. Set back to left, single storey range with pair of windows and door.

Rear elevation with pair of openings to hay loft. Piended roof; grey slates. Ashlar coped skews to central gable. Interior gutted.

BOUNDARY WALL: curved rubble boundary wall with saddleback ashlar coping partly encloses court.

Statement of Interest

Formerly L-plan, with a N range where the Hay Lodge Cottages now stand. The building appears to have been rebuilt between 1775 and 1823. See separate listing for Hay Lodge.
