Description

Mid 19th century. Single storey L-plan gabled lodge with Mannerist details; single storey projection to E. Squared and snecked whinstone rubble. Overhanging eaves with exposed rafters and piended gableheads; distinctive alternating small projecting blocks, vouissoirs and cornices to windows.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: projecting gabled bay to left with single windows; doorway to centre with window flanking to right.

N ELEVATION: gabled with single windows.

S ELEVATION: as above with single storey projection to outer right with blind doorway.

E ELEVATION: single storey partly harled projection.

INTERIOR: not seen 1994.

Slate roof. Short stacks with octagonal cans. Lattice windows in sliding timber sashes; some blind, some replacements. Square gatepiers, iron railings to N.

Possibly by William Burn, who often used the sliding sash.
