Earlier to mid 18th century; later additions and alterations. 2-storey 3-bay house with modern shopfronts at ground floor and large 3-storey projection to rear. Cement render to front (simulating rock-faced ashlar at 1st floor), droved margins, quoins and eavesband; pebbledash to rear.
S (FRONT) ELEVATION: 2 modern shopfront at ground floor. Regular fenestration above. carved panel to right of centre showing pair of baxter's peels crossed in saltire with scuffle between them, inscribed and dated 1724. Cast-iron skylight.
N (REAR) ELEVATION: large 3-storey rear addition with irregular openings.
Plate glass timber sash and case windows to front, variety of timber windows to rear. Green slate.
INTERIOR: not seen 1994.
The date 1724 might have been recut as Chambers apparently cited it as 1717 (see Inventory). The pitch of the roof suggests former thatching.
