Description

Dated 1753. 2-storey 3-bay classical town house with former corn exchange (1860) to rear. Cream harl, pink sandstone ashlar dressings. Base course; banded impost course at ground floor; banded cill course at 1st floor; eaves cornice; angle margins; 1st floor windows with shouldered mouldings.

N (FRONT) ELEVATION: symmetrical; 2 depressed-arched pends to outer bays ( to right now infilled with modern glazing) framing central window. Regular fenestration above. Central bracketted pediment breaking eaves with ball finials and shield with Peebles' arms and date above.

S (REAR) ELEVATION: tall single storey former corn exchange projecting at right angle, tall windows ( now blocked) and openings. Small arched belfry to end gable.

12-pane timber sash and case windows to front block. Purple slates, piend and platformed roof to town house. Swept skewputts to corn exchange.

INTERIOR: not seen 1994.
