Description

Early 20th century. Large irregular 2-storey 3-bay double pile gabled villa. Cream bull-faced sandstone front and dressings; stugged quoins; dry-dashed secondary elevations. Overhanging eaves with exposed rafters and bargeboards.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: projecting square entrance tower at centre with round-arched window at ground, panelled door in S return with 10-pane fanlight; segmental-arched window to both faces at 1st floor; pyramidal roof with swept eaves, fish-scale slates and weathervane finial. To right, broad gabled bay; canted window at ground with overhanging piended roof; tripartite window at 1st floor. Broad bay set back to left; veranda roof at ground wrapping around corner with fish scale

slates; canted window to left elides with canted window at corner of S return forming polygonal corner bow. At 1st floor bipartite window breaking eaves with gabled dormerhead.

S ELEVATION: projecting gable to right with window as above at ground and window to left at 1st floor. To left, bipartite window at ground and window at 1st floor breaking eaves with swept dormerhead. Single storey service range set back to left.

W ELEVATION: pair of gables flank staircase window. Single storey service range projects at ground.

N ELEVATION: gable to left with window at ground; to right, window to both floors, breaking eaves with swept dormer at 1st floor and wallhead stack to right.

Timber windows; sash and case with multi-pane upper sashes; casements to canted windows with timber mullions and transoms and multi-pane upper sections. Grey slates with terracotta ridge tiles; coped sandstone apex stacks; terracotta cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1994.

GATEPIERS, BOUNDARY WALLS: coped square ashlar gatepiers (painted) with chamfered arrises. rubble boundary walls with boulder coping.
