Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey with basement and attic
asymmetrical villa. 3-storey east wing added 1890: John
Hutchinson, architect. Snecked stugged ashlar with polished
dressings. Flat roofed, finialled porch in NW re-entrant
angle, supported on 2 colonnettes with foliate capitals and
pierced balustrade. Carved head over round-arched doorway.
Gabled bay of west elevation with bowed oriel to 1st floor.
North elevation; right bay canted and gabled, 3-storey left
bay advanced and gabled with chamfered corners to ground
floor corbelled to square above. Gabled advanced bay to middle
of east elevation. South elevation has right bay advanced
with 3-storey bow windows. Staircase window with 2 horseshoe
arches. Modern doorway with fore stair below. Corbelled
projecting window to angle of west and south sides. Variety
of sashes and multi-light fenestration in chamfered reveals.
Wide eaves on paired wooden brackets.
Slate roof with corniced stacks and gabled dormer to south,
segmentally pedimented to west.
Interior altered but retains fine stucco work in hall;
panelled drawing room with fireplace and moulded ceilings.
