Later 19th century. 2-storey over raised basement, Italianate villa, square plan with projecting porch to S. Bull-faced grey granite walls, coursed granite rubble E elevation, polished red sandstone ashlar dressings. Cill course at principal floor, including porch, and string below eaves apparently overstepping stone corbels of timber eaves brackets. Chamfered window surrounds, stopped at cills. Round-arched 1st floor windows, breaking eaves in bracketted round-arched canopies.
S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 2 bays, original basement concealed by modern addition in recess area, single storey porch to right of centre to principal floor, bipartite windows to sides.
W ELEVATION: near-symmetrical 3 bays, basement with bipartite window in bay 1, door between bay 2 and 3. Tripartite windows to principal floor, bays 1 and 3.
E ELEVATION: 3 bays, centre stair window breaking lower string course. 1st floor, no window in bay 1, large round-arched stair window to centre, breaking eaves.
N ELEVATION: 2 bays, basement window at bay 1, principal floor window to bay 2.
Plate glass timber sash and case windows at basement and principal floor of W elevation, boarded entrance door. Shallow-pitch piended roofs to main block and porch, overhanging eaves. Short length of brattishing to porch roof ridge, and lamp bracket over door. Cast-iron balconies with brackets to tripartite windows of W elevation. Cast-iron downpipes, profiled and plain guttering to eaves. 3-flue wallhead stack to centre of S elevation, 6-flue wallhead stack to centre of N elevation, both coped, with octagonal cans.
INTERIOR: believed to be of interest, but not seen (1994).
This villa is of unusual design and retains most of its original features.
