James S Richardson, 1921. Carving by Carrick. War memorial in form of mercat cross. Stone octagonal plinth supporting moulded base of octagonal pedestal. Angle buttresses to pedestal; bronze plaques with names of fallen on each face. Acanthus scrolls ending in bronze shields capping buttressed angles and running in to base of shaft. Moulded base and capital to octagonal shaft with convex faces. Thistle frieze to capital with 4 shields. Unicorn bearing saltire shield as finial.
