Mid 18th century. Tall 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular plan corner house, harled, plain margins to gable end, rendered shopfront.
S ELEVATION: door at ground off-set to right of centre bay, 1st floor; 3 symmetrical widely spaced bays, wall end to right (E) with irregular recess formed by shallow E facing corbel and deep S facing corbel at 1st.
W ELEVATION: 2-bay gable end; windows at 1st, shopfront at ground with central door and flanking plate glass windows.
E ELEVATION: adjoining 3-7 John Street.
Timber sash and case windows, plate glass, grey slates, coped skews, rendered gablehead stack to W, broad brick stack to E.
INTERIOR: not seen 1997.
The steep pitch of the gablehead suggests that the tall form existed from an early date, although the absence of openings to the wallhead requires further investigation.
