Earlier 19th century, 3-storey, 6-bay, classical tenement in irregular terrace with shops at ground. Sandstone ashlar to front, squared and snecked to rear. 1st floor cill cornice, band course between 1st and 2nd floors, eaves cornice, blocking course raised at centre and ornate cast-iron brattishing.
E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 2 modern shopfronts at ground, plate glass, fascia boards reading to 1st floor cill cornice, 3rd entrance to left. Symmetrical fenestration at 1st and 2nd floors, ornate cast-iron window guards at 2nd floor.
W ELEVATION: 4 bays at 2nd floor, additions at ground and 1st to centre, adjoining 174 High Street to left.
S ELEVATION: adjoining 180-184 High Street.
N ELEVATION: adjoining 170-172 High Street to left, extending W in Doig's Close, single bay to E.
12-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slates on pitched roof to front block and twin piended roofs to rear. Brick wall head stacks to N and S.
INTERIOR: not seen 1997.
