Early and mid 19th century. 3-storey and attic, 4-bay, T-plan tenement in irregular terrace with commercial premises at ground.Squared sandstone to front, harled to rear, dressed margins to front.
E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: asymmetrical 3-bay shopfront at ground with 2 windows and door, entrance to upper storeys to right, pend entrance to left with timber gate, deep fascia and cornice above, symmetrical 1st and 2nd floors, 2 canted dormers with billetted cornices.
N ELEVATION: adjoining 156 High Street to left, wing extending W to right, window at 1st and 2nd floors to extreme left and in return to left.
S ELEVATION: adjoining 166 and 168 High Street.
W ELEVATION: 2-bay gable end.
4-pane timber sash and case windows to front with plate glass lower sashes to 1st floor, variety timber sash and case windows to rear. Grey slate roof; stone skews; broad brick stack on party wall to N, harled gable head stack to W.
INTERIOR: not seen 1997.
The gable ended section to the West is possibly of 18th century origin.
