Architect probably Walter Newall, circa 1830. Unusual
double-pile 2-storey house recessed from street and with
main entrance central on otherwise plain twin-gabled N
flank. Painted stugged and squared rubble, chunky ashlar
margins, panelled door with tall fanlight, pedimented
canopy over; main (W) elevation: mullioned windows, 2
shallow projecting tripartites at ground, 3 bipartites above
linked to eaves band; 3-bay E elevation with central door
(blocked door at SE corner), multi-paned 1st floor glazing.
Small-paned sash windows throughout. Shallow-pitched roofs
with skews run horizontally over skewputts; corbelled end
stacks with diamond flues. Roofed with graded slates.
Attribution to Newall on stylistic grounds.
Compares with a design by Newall for Nether Corsock (NMRS
index).
