Walter Newall, architect, circa 1838-40. 2-storey manse,
with 3-bay main (N) elevation recessed from street; high
walled garden adjoins to E.
HOUSE: stugged red ashlar coursers with polished margins.
N ELEVATION: central panelled door with fanlight with
corniced hood on stylised pendant consoles; sash windows
with 12-pane glazing pattern, upper lintels linked to narrow
eaves band; near full-height wing recessed at right;
cornice; symmetrically placed stacks with grouped, corniced
and coped flues; shallow-pitched roof with wide platform.
E ELEVATION: with 2 shallow projecting mullioned bays (1
with lying-panes, other altered and now with steps to
garden); 3 single 1st floor windows.
INTERIOR: central hall with cantilevered stair with
decorative cast-iron balusters; pilastered marble
chimneypiece in sitting room.
Set behind low wall with modern iron railings.
WALLED GARDEN: quadrangular area, walls perhaps 18th
century, raised in 19th century. Rubble built with ashlar
coping; linked at S to churchyard.
