Probably 1860/70. Large 3-storey Italian Renaissance corner
bank building with recessed and curved corner bay. Grey
ashlar, with key-stoned and architraved openings,
round-arched at channelled ground floor, lugged above;
pedimented tall Ionic doorpiece (with 2-leaf panelled doors)
to both elevations; rusticated quoins above and openings,
linked vertically by aprons, corniced 1st floor openings,
pedimented window over central doorpiece (tall 2-leaf
panelled door) on 3-bay elevation to High Street. Cornice
over ground floor, cill courses to 1st and 2nd floors; mutule
cornice; corniced wallhead and axial stacks; slate roof.
4-bay elevation to John Street.
INTERIOR: fairly plain banking hall reached through main door
on High Street; ground flat/office entered by lesser door
alongside; upper flats entered from door in John Street.
