18th century; doorpiece and tripartite window early 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan classical house in irregular terrace; pilastered and corniced doorcase with blocking course. Painted render with stone margins. Eaves cornice. Stone mullions.
NW (HIGH STREET) ELEVATION: deep-set door with 2-pane plate glass fanlight to centre, corniced tripartite window in bay to left, window to right and adjacent pend entrance with timber door and 3-part fanlight to outer right.
SE ELEVATION: asymmetrical fenestration; elements include forestair to right of centre leading to part-glazed door between floors, and half-gable with small window above wallhead.
Small-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows. Modern tiles. Coped ashlar and harl stacks (that to SW truncated) with some cans and thackstanes; ashlar-coped skews.
INTERIOR: plain plasterwork cornicing and dadoes. Elliptical-arched screen door to hall with etched glass and sunburst-astragalled fanlight; deep keystoned arch; timber fireplace to principal ground floor room. 1st floor (No 42) with plain cornicing; timber balustered cantilevered dog-leg staircase; drawing room with round-headed doors (one sealed) flanking timber fireplace. Roof space with base of massive crowstepped stack.
BOUNDARY WALLS: high rubble boundary walls.
