John Rennie, 1800-3, five eliptical arches supporting level
carriageway, piers have rounded cut waters which carry a pair
of engaged Doric columns above, surmounted by a frieze to
allow shallow refuges for pedestrians, block cornice with
blind balustrade. At west end of bridge are two cast iron
lamp-standards from Rennie's London Bridge.
Built to replace Bridge of 1754 destroyed by flood in 1797 cost $18,000. A group with Bridge End Cottage and Springwood Park gateway. De-scheduled 23 February 1996.
