James Pearson Alison, 1897, incorporating earlier fabric. 3-storey with attic 3-bay shop with flat above. Coursed cream stugged ashlar sandstone with polished dressings. Ground floor framed by channelled pilasters supporting cornice and central pediment; base course. To outer left, panelled door to flat (Jedvale) with rectangular fanlight and moulded timber architrave; flanking to right, 3-bay shop with panelled door and fanlight at centre (as above), deep-set in doorcase with moulded ashlar architrave applied to channelled pilasters; flanking plate glass windows under moulded lintel; awning box below cornice. Architraved windows with cills to each bay of upper floors; with cornices to 1st floor. Eaves cornice. Pair of flat-roofed canted timber slate-hung dormers.
Plate glass timber sash and case windows. Broad rendered stack; grey slates. Cast-iron downpipe.
Rebuilt for Dr Blair at a cost of $720. Part of a continuous group with 2 to 16 Canongate.
