Description

1871 Late classical. Single-storey and basement office
building. Four window and central door elevation to
Cadzow Street, architraved openings with consoled sills
set in orderless channelled pilasters. Main entrance
Ionic columned with flyover steps, panelled door,
vermiculated basement within railed area and rock-faced
basecourse, panelled parapet over main entablature, 4-
window south east elevation with similar treatment,
north west elevation plain ashlar with single centre
window, rear plain 3-window rubble with central arched
stair window. Original 10-pane glazing to basement at
rear. Flattish piended slated roof and pairs of ashlar
stacks with bracketed cornices on flanks. Single-storey
harled block to rear. Interior has good heavy
plasterwork, now subdivided but relatively unspoilt.
Railings and die block date from Bonn's 1900
reconstruction of Cadzow Bridge.
