Description

Circa 1860. Picturesque, Italianate villa standing alone and overlooking Botanic Gardens. 2-storeys and basement, asymmetrical plan and elevations. Stugged ashlar with polished, rusticated quoins. Sash and case windows with plate glass glazing, piended slate roof.

NE ELEVATYION: 2-storey canted window and 2 further windows; 3-storey.

ENTRANCE TOWER: in N re-entrant angle; square-headed door and rectangular fan light, 1st floor window with boldly arched hood, bipartites to upper/prospect room, (NE and NW faces), deeply bracketted cornice and shallow piended roof with elaborate cast-iron weathervane.

NW ELEVATION: 5-light bowed, 2-storey window to W of tower.

S W ELEVATION: very plain near symmetrical window arrangement.

GATEPIERS AND GATES: chamfered and domed piers (2 pairs-1 simple) cast-iron gates.
