Original design by Frank Burnet and Boston, 1899 and revised by Burnet, Boston and Carruthers, 1902 (dated). 4-storey and attic gushet block with bank at ground, entrance below balconied and conical-roofed (slated) circular corner tower. Renaissance. Red ashlar, stone-cleaned. Street elevations roughly symmetrical with single and double windows, centre 3-storey oriels with decorative gabled attic windows over; balustraded wall-heads; prominent stacks; roofs mostly with modern tiles.
Designed as a public house and shop with flats over for George Honeyman Farmer, wine and spirit merchant. Original elevations revised in 1902. Tenements to the north in Duke Street (not listed) also built for Farmer in 1902. The Clydesdale Bank occupied the shop unit for many years before taking over the whole of the ground floor in 1923 and forming a new entrance on the corner angle.
