Description

William B Whitie, 1904 (dated). Built as a public library. Single storey, occupying corner site, symmetrical 9-bay main entrance elevation to E (Ayr Street). Stone-cleaned red ashlar.

Edwardian baroque with key-stoned architraves, base and wide pilaster strips all channelled, round-arched doorway set within recessed aedicular frame, pediment with cartouche and inscription and integrated with main mutule cornice; piended (slate) roof enclosed by roof parapet.
