W G Rowan (of McKissack and Rowan), 1875-9 as a Free
church, latterly Pollokshields West Church. Thomsonesque
Greek, and on corner site; lofty square tower at
corner (like Thomson's towers) has walls mainly blank
below decorative top stage, open-worked domed lantern
raised above; 3 elevations of body of church have Ionic
portico raised above podium (again, an arrangement
favoured by Thomson). Polished ashlar, slate roofs,
pediments with anthemion finials; shallow Doric portico
to Shields Road with triple doorway; square-ended
chancel not original (?1923). Interior remodelled 1923;
stained glass panels by Alfred Webster and Nina Millar
Davidson. Stone-built boundary wall has piers with
Egypto-Greek ornament.
No longer in ecclesiastical use.
