Description

Thomson and Sandilands, 1896. Large 2-storey villa with
tower, now a hotel. Detailing mainly Scots renaissance,
some mullioned and transomed windows. Bull-faced red
ashlar, windows with multi-paned upper panels, slate
roofs. Tall thin tower on NE flank with balustrades,
bartizans and cap-house; symmetrical NW front facing
street corner with crow-stepped centre, conical-roofed
big angle bartizans. Other elevations asymmetrical.
Interior altered during conversion to hotel; grand
central stair top-lit through stained glass panels.
Boundary walls also bull-faced red ashlar, iron
railings, big modern slapping to Sherbrooke Avenue.
